GTA 5: Los Santos confirmed, 'most ambitious Rockstar game ever'

Rockstar has finally got around to announcing Grand Theft Auto 5, after the debut GTA 5 trailerexploded all over the internet last night.

The fifth instalment in the lucrative crime series is "the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created," claims the press release, which confirms that GTA 5's setting includes "Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches".

Rockstar parent Take-Two calls GTA V "a bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer," while confirming that its story will focus on "the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California."

No release date or platforms are provided in the announcement, though analysts have predictedGTA 5 will release before Summer 2012.
