5 Years Old, Still Kicking, May 10, 2012

This review is from: Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (3rd Generation) OLD MODEL (Electronics)
I got a silver 4GB for Christmas before the 4th Gen Nano came out. Almost 5 years later, this little baby is still going strong. I haven't needed to replace nor repair it. The battery life isn't quite what it used to be, but I can still go a couple days listening to it constantly without having to recharge every night. The body and screen have held up very nicely, no major scratches on the screen or anything (except that one dented corner where I dropped it Day One, hah). The backlight is still bright and I can read it even in sunlight. It's still fast, and doesn't skip or lag or fail.In fact, I haven't had any problems with it for quite a long time. I remember having to manually reset it a few times when it froze and couldn't be turned off, and once or twice I've had to wipe the whole thing and reinstall the software; but all that I can do in 10 minutes or less with no shipping it off anywhere or fighting customer service or paying anything extra.
When I first got it I was worried about the size - it's so thin! - I thought I might sit on it and break it or something. Let me tell you, I've sat on it enough times there's probably a permanent imprint. But like I said before, the body and screen are just fine. I'm also prone to dropping things, so It's not just me babying the unit, it's just well built.
I've heard/read so many bad things about the new Nanos that if I look into replacing this one any time in the current Gen (6), I will simply be buying a new 3G. I like the compact Goldilocks size, the shape is comfortable in my hand, and it hasn't failed me yet.
The only thing I don't like about the 3G Nano is that there are only two capacity options. 8 gigabytes is simply not enough for me, but it's old tech so I can forgive the lack of space. On the whole, I'll take less space and better quality over more space and a crap piece of tech any day.

Great portable music player, April 28, 2012

I bought this model back in November 2007. At the time they only came in Silver. 4GB holds quite a bit of music, some people might need more if they are storing movies. This November, I will have had it for 5 years. I have had NO problems with it. There are minor scratches on it, but small. The original headphones (apple of course) are cheap and fall out. I found an awesome set for $4.I use it when working outside and at the gym, where I mostly run and do endurance exercises. In my opinions this Nano is the best/most durable. Find a good case, screen protector, and headphones and who knows how long they will last. The ONLY Apple product I do consider worth spending money on.

I didn't buy this product through Amazon, I bought it in the Apple Store in Dec. 2007. It's still working PERFECTLY, it has lost a little charge capacity battery (it lasts still 4 hours playing music) considering I use it EVERYDAY. I don't use it to watch videos because that's not something that interests me, but this fella has played a good portion of my life's soundtrack with excellent quality and I hope it lasts longer.I have no intentions to buy a new one. Now it's more expensive than the newer versions but I'm sure it's worth it.
